Novi March 8, 2010 March 8, 2010 I am currently using TM Bio-Actif Salt and it is extremely low on Calcium and Magnesium. Cal = 320ppm and Mag = 1050. I do not feel comfortable on dosing as my tank is fairly new and I am not trying to get into all that yet. But I wanted to know what would be the effects if say I were to cut the TM with say CoralLife Salt which tests alot higher in CAL and MAG? Kinda like a 50/50 mix? Of course I would go small at first with say 10% WWC. Let me know your thoughts
zygote2k March 8, 2010 March 8, 2010 Dosing is very simple. Get your 4 very basic chemicals needed- Magnesium chloride- Home Depot $17 per 50# bag Magnesium sulfate- CVS Epsom salt $4/ gallon combine these 2 in the proper ratio and here is your Mg. Baking Soda- cook 2.5 cups of baking soda in the oven @ 200 degrees for an hour. add 1 gallon of water and this is your Alkalinity. Calcium Chloride $17/ 50 # bag at Home Depot. Add proper amount to 1 gallon of water and here is your Ca. Test first, then add as needed. You don't need a doser, just a cup.
