discretekarma February 8, 2010 February 8, 2010 Our power went out late on Frinday in Colesville and is still out. I've had a lot of my house running on generator power since the power went out. How long can my tank go with just the Eheim 1262 return pump and the heater? At what point should I get the rest back up? I was hoping to wait until the power came back on but who knows when that'll be. I'm told by my wife that Pepco is hoping for Tuesday night.
L8 2 RISE February 8, 2010 February 8, 2010 Haha, Tuesday night, same time as the next storm! You should be fine for quite a while if your tank has been up and established for a while. If not I'd probably start putting the CL/Skimmer on in 12 hr shifts or something similar.
Coral Hind February 8, 2010 February 8, 2010 The tank can go for a week easy with just the return pump and heater. If you get the lights on even for a few hours a day then you could run like that for weeks. That wouldn't be much different then how we ran tanks 15 years ago.

I agree with the above, but I personally wouldn't feel comfortable without lights for more than 3 days. Hopefully you don't get to that point.
discretekarma February 8, 2010 Author February 8, 2010 Power came back on today. Just in time for us to get the dishwasher ran before the storm tomorrow.
