DDiver November 3, 2009 November 3, 2009 ok guys, this post is to show you how good my tank is doing and how one coral can look totally different from one tank to another..i borrowed some of these pics from an old post so i hope you guys don't mind... here is Bob's(Rocko918) Colony(from Don) here is Huy's(Dell2Go) also from Don here is Bob's(Lanman) from Rik here is/was Hunter's from Rik(i think) Huy's colony is identical to Bob's(Lanman) and Hunter's although both are from 2 different reputable sources ...there is no question they are the same coral..but yet the other Bob's(Rocko918) colony also from 1 of the 2 sources looks nothing like the others...and when i say that it doesn't look like the others i mean the growth pattern not the coral's corallite sructure because corallite structures shouldn't be affected by lighting or flow(like growth pattern can be)...if its the same coral then it should always look the same in different tanks...Purple Monster have roundish corallite tips and we don't need to argue that all the corals above has that characteristic...but also take into consideration that the thickness or thinness of tissue/branches can be affected by trace element deficiency... and now to legitamize even more the fact that the same coral can look totally different from system to system..here is my Purple Monster Colony of which both Huy's and Bob's(Rocko) colony came from..(previouly Don's Colony) here it is when i got it a few months back...all browned out and i still paid a good amount of money for it because i've seen it in it's full glory and from the extensive research i've done on LE corals , i've never questioned its authencity/lineage... here it is 2 months later and still getting more purple as the days go by... i'm willing to bet not one of you guys have ever seen a PM colony growing like this..mainly because theres not a lot of big colonies of it out there that are documented and it grows like the Tyree Pink Watermelon... i hope my post will shed some light on some of you guys..thanks for your time..

DDiver November 5, 2009 Author November 5, 2009 (edited) polyps green? i have had several PM..but all polyps were white.. both my PMs from Don and Rik have white(ish) polyps...but take into consideration that polyps are also capable of changing colors... Edited November 5, 2009 by DDiver
DDiver November 5, 2009 Author November 5, 2009 seems like the more mature polyps are green(ish) and newer ones are white...
