SkiCurtis September 23, 2009 September 23, 2009 I got 2 of these LED blue lights for"moon lights" and they make my corals glow like crazy.the problem is I need 8 of them for my 8' tank They glow allot more than regualr actinics and they shimmer as well. they are on sale now. i cant wait until LEDs come down in price and i can switch over to the one's that you can controll the Kelvin rateing with the turn dial. Larry Grenier September 23, 2009 September 23, 2009 Interesting, I thought you'd need 420nm to get good floresing. Can you show a pic?
SkiCurtis September 23, 2009 Author September 23, 2009 I will take some pic's tonight.I just barrowed my brother's macro lens last night.
zoozilla September 23, 2009 September 23, 2009 I thought so too, Larry. But after seeing it in action on 143Gadgets' lps tank (he uses 4 fixtures), I can concur that they make his LPS especially greens, reds, oranges pop wickedly. Imho, maybe a tad more intense than under vho's.

I wonder how the powerbrites compare to these: http://www.marineandreef.com/Moon_White_Lu..._p/rcu01650.htm I was going to get these b/c they are cheaper, but I could get the powerbrites instead...

Not sure how they compare intensity-wise (though I imagine per LED they are about the same) but the Powerbrites have 4 LED's vs the 2 providing more coverage. Hopefully, i'll be able to incorporate some Powerbrite 460nm's or similar sometime down the road.
