Stu September 15, 2009 September 15, 2009 I have a pink chalice that occasionally sends out some kind of sweeper at night. It extends about 2-3" and has killed acans and stung brains really bad. Anyone else have any experiences like this with chalices?
zoozilla September 15, 2009 September 15, 2009 Yes, this is very typical. When I was out of town for 2 days, my pink-eyed chalice managed to sting and kill a small Acan and Favia colony
Sikryd September 15, 2009 September 15, 2009 Yeah, take a look at night. Different ones/types have them, not all do. I have seen one that was a huge colony and 10" tentacles.

Anyone else have any experiences like this with chalices? Indeed - that's why I call my chalice Sanchez, the killer chalice. He spit out his spaghetti, and killed a WAR coral sitting 'downstream' from him. Fast, too! I had looked at the chalice and war coral earlier in the evening - and they were fine. A few hours later, the WAR coral was dead. I should have taken pictures - but I thought I could save the WAR coral. bob
Jan September 16, 2009 September 16, 2009 Oh yea, my little 2.5 inch Merulina sends out 2 inch sweepers during the day. Anyone else have any experiences like this with chalices?
