I ran an Octopus 150 NW on a 90 for 1.5 years without a problem, for the money it was the best purchase I could make. I did end up modifying mine and found all the info i needed on reef central, so I would start there. Also if you have a problem searching reef central without being a member, I recommend using the google syntax "search term site:forums.reefcentral.com" I ended up moding the skimmer because of the claimed performace increase, and I do have to say one of the mods, opening the intake pump pipe diameter made the biggest difference. The next mod I did was use a gate value to "set" the water level in the skimmer, the pipe/shaft that the octopus came with was just a pain in the butt to setup and tune, I would recommend this mod if the MDX doesnt come with a gate valve to add one. As of the collection cup, no I personally wouldn't get it. Edited September 7, 2009 by sheac12
