Drilling a 40 gallon breeder tank? got a question

Can i drill the bottom, make an overflow box and make it look like a reef ready tank? or can i only drill back and sides...

99.99% sure, sides only. bottom is almost always tempered.

I am pretty sure 40 gallon breeders from Aqueon (AGA) do not have tempered bottoms. But Top fin 40 gallon breeders do.

I am about 90% sure you can drill that tank's bottom. I bought it to drill it and had checked things out - not all manufacturers were using tempered on 18" width at that point. Tempered bottoms did not used to be standard on 40g tanks when I bought that about 4.5 years ago.

most new tanks will have a sticker on the bottom that say tempered. i just did the back to be sure.

I drilled my Aqueon (AGA) 40 breeder on the bottom it wasn't a problem. The glass is not tempered and you can go to their website and they list all their tanks and whether or not they have tempered glass.
