L8 2 RISE July 3, 2009 July 3, 2009 Start with a clean up crew and slowly go from there. A lot of people screw their tank for a while with this part I've noticed, myself included, due to adding too fast and not watching. I'm hoping to avoid that with the tank I'm putting up now. Don't add fish too quickly. Start with a clean up crew and feed it to add to the biological load, then after a while if nothing looks bad, add a fish, let it settle in and after a few weeks add another fish, and you can slowly pick up the pace. Right now I would just put a CUC in.
lanman July 4, 2009 July 4, 2009 You're getting there - but remember adding the fish will increase your load; IF (big IF) you can catch them easily enough - I would put the shrimp in the new tank now - and plenty of cleanup crew (snails, etc.). And 1-2 of the smallest fish. Check again in 3-4 days, and see what the numbers look like. If your nitrates continue to drop, you can add another fish or two. 20 nitrates is not BAD - you just don't want to go over it. The fish won't mind, but any corals would. bob
