Hey everyone,

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on a design. I want to make a custom sump that will go under a 90gal that will be started soon. I'll need the typical three section (skimmer, fuge, return) setup but also need an area to hold the RO/DI water for my Tunze ATO. The usable area in my stand is 46x23.5x16. The sump dimensions would be 45x16x15. Skimmer and fuge would both be 12x14.5, the ATO area would be 20x6 and the return would be 20x8.25. With the ATO section front and center I figure it will be easy to refill/clean. I didn't add in a eurobrace or bubble traps...not because I wouldn't have them but because sketchUp was giving me a headache and I finally said #@#$@# it lol. Is it a bad idea to have the entire area under my stand taken up by the sump? I don't currently use a calcium reactor but I figure I would need to find a spot outside the stand anyways if I chose to use one in the future. Any advice would be really appreciated!!

BTW...I cant upload the pic for some reason, so here is a link

i would make your ato container separate from your sump, JMO

I would agree with that unless you can fit it at the end, which I think would work better then the side as you have it now. Just a little too much wasted space in that design.

:2cents:

How about do away with the skimmer compartment and go full blown 'fuge? It works for me. The money you'll save on the skimmer alone will allow you to buy some really nice coral- especially if you shop here.

actually that was something I had considered, but I didn't think an 18ish gallon fuge would be enough for a 90 gallon tank.
