Need some help, Mimic Tang

I just noticed this on my Mimic Tang this morning. It looks like some kind of lesion.

Any suggestions?

could have been nipped at, could just be a sore of some sort. if he's eating well and acting normally, no need to worry. just watch him and if he becomes lethargic, stops acting normally, or his feeding response decreases, you may need to QT in hypo to give him the extra energy to heal himself.

Thanks. He seems fine. He is eating and swimming around like normal..

What else is in the tank? Looks a lot like when my tangs fight - they leave lip prints on each other. I'm assuming that you have either a blenny or a grazing tang of some sort in there and that something is attacking your fish. If not, no idea what it's from.

Two false percs, 1 flame hawkfish, 1 cleaner wrasse, 1 fire fish

The larger of my two false percs just started to host a big colony of Zoos (They extend out over an inch), and seemed to be more agressive lately. That being said, the mimic is somewhat agressive too. I have caught him a few times backing into the hawkfish. Sounds like ***removed*** hit the fan last night.

I'm just glad that is isnt some sort of disease.

I'll keep watching. I hope I dont have to get rid of him, he has GREAT color and I'm looking forward to him changing..

Things are not looking good..

This morning the tang did not look well at all. He had some browner spots, looked bony almost like he has been fed in a month (I probably over feed) and was just sitting/swimming on the sand. He didn't eat at all... any ideas? what can I do?

If this is a wound, (and in many cases otherwise) you should isolate the tang immediately in QT and treat it for (or to prevent) bacterial infection. It could be something else, though. I find this link to a fish disease diagnostic tool helpful: http://www.nationalfishpharm.com/diseases.html

sadly when I got home, the mimic had died.... I really wish I knew what was going on. All other fish look fine and are eating and acting normal...
