Sikryd February 6, 2009 February 6, 2009 Do you have to use a router to connect to the ACIII or is thier another way Thanks Jim I hardwired it with cat10. Sort of a pain to run it through the walls and stuff, but it sure is nice once you are done.
DaveS February 6, 2009 February 6, 2009 Jim, Not sure I understand the question. From a networking perspective, the AC3 has a standard network interface so it is possible to connect it directly to the Internet, no router or anything in between. However, that is pretty unlikely based on your ISP. If you are asking about how to physically connect it, it's got a CAT5 jack so standard networking cable to your router will work. They also make wireless adapters which plug into the CAT5 port on the AC3 and then allow it to communicate wirelessly so you don't have to run cable to it. Hope this helps.
reefhunter February 7, 2009 February 7, 2009 I have mine on a linksys game adapter... not currently working but it was at one point... I got this so I didn't have to run a line to my acIII from upstairs. http://www.amazon.com/Linksys-WGA54G-Wirel...r/dp/B00009X6DT
Sikryd February 7, 2009 February 7, 2009 yeah, that would be cat5, lmao. I just woke up and hadn't had my coffee yet
YBeNormal February 7, 2009 February 7, 2009 You can also run the Cat 5/6 direct to a NIC port on your PC or laptop. Plugging into a router makes IP addressing easier though and will allow you to use port forwarding, NAT, DMZ and other features that you might find desirable.

I have a standard copper router; I got the game adapter, and a wireless access point. Plugged the AC-III into the game adapter, and the WAP into the router - and it works fine. bob
