schenktank February 6, 2009 February 6, 2009 i have a 29 gallon and want to get better flow. i want koralias but dont know which size or how many i should get. i want to try and stick with mostly lps corals and i am a little unsure of how much flow i should have. i have a aquaclear 70 laying around is there anyway i could mod it so it spreads the stream out more because its too direct. any ideas?
Sugar Magnolia February 6, 2009 February 6, 2009 In my 30g I use a Tunze Nanostream 6025 which is ~660gph. Koralia 1 is ~400gph, Koralia 2 is adjustable from 260gph to 680gph. So, it just depends on how much flow you want to add and what you have for circulation currently in the tank. I've got flow coming from 4 different sources in my cube. The nanostream, return from my canister ~300gph, return from my HOB filter ~250gph and the skimmer return. All combined produces a nicemedium flow throughout the tank with areas of lower flow.
reefhunter February 6, 2009 February 6, 2009 my lps doing like alot of flow... so I would do moderate... however, I dont know anything about powerheads that small....
zygote2k February 6, 2009 February 6, 2009 In my 40 breeder, I use 3) Koralia nanos and the return from the main pump with an eductor. Plenty of current flow just from the Koralias.
PK3 February 8, 2009 February 8, 2009 I've got a 30g cube and currently have two Koralia 2's in there along with a mag 5 returning water from the sump and it appears to be the right amount of flow. I used to have a 29g and I would probably suggest about 2 or 3 Koralia 2's in there. I think the best way is to just get a couple and play around with it (different placement, different direction angles, etc). But basically, you're probably going to be in the Koralia 2 ballpark.
