No tangs here. I'm more interested in something that would eat/clean it from some rocks in a sump.

All my tangs will eat it right out of the fuge.

If I may ask what type of tangs? There may be a sump tang in my future.

Hey Stephen my Lavender and Yellow Tang eat just about anything. Both are pretty cheap.

Chaeto is the easiest macro-algae to prune. Why not pull it out and toss the excess?

It went asexual. Second time it's done it actually. Seems every time the clump gets around a certain size it happens. There's some in the display but like before it dying back and vanishing. In the sump it's growing though. I'd rather put some egg crate between my clump of it and rock pile and have something eat it off the rocks versus removing the rocks and picking/pruning it from them. It may be time to weigh other macro's for the sump. Funny though. It only does it in one tank.

I was thinking a yellow after reading Chip's reply. I'm not really interested in an expensive or flashy fish since the sump lighting is opposite of the display and it would go unnoticed except during feeding or occasional looks to check everything out. I'm also a bit concerned how a fish would do during water changes. The sump is where I drain and replenish the water from during changes. It may be ok considering the starfish and spiny lobster I have in there now make it through fine. I do heat the water to tank temps after mixing and letting it sit for 24 hours before I add it.

The Lavender is also cheap and pretty plain. It looks like mine is going to stay pretty small. I have had him for about 7 or 8 months and has'nt really grown that much. That is why i was recommending him.

You sure you don't have caulerpa? I've never heard of chaeto going asexual or sexual.

100% positive.

Not the greatest pic but... There's some growing on the glass so it blurs the amount growing on the rocks.

3 yellow, 1 purple, 1 scopas, 1 big vlamingii

I also have not heard of cheato having sex.

If I decide a tang is the solution would you be interested in adopting it after it clears up the problem? Free of charge of course. I just don't have enough room in the 40 display or 30 sump to keep it after it gets bigger. I'm not interested in placing it in the 75 or 90 either.

I might be able to take it off your hands depending on what kind you got.

After having, and not having, tangs in reef tanks, I think I'll never not have one in a reef tank again.

I'll take it for my frag tank and make a $25 donation in your name to the children's cancer tank fund and give you a frag when you're done.

I'd like to suggest getting a balck or gem tang in that case?

I'm up in the air on what to get. Don't wanna spend more than 50 on one. Any preference given the spending limit?

If you want to consider a Naso tang i would pay you for it when it was time for the adoption. If that would work for you.

I like tangs. Just just really don't have a place for it besides the 40. The tang police would raid my house for keeping it there after it cleared up the sump.

LOL. If I'm spending that much to eat this stuff it's living in the spare bedroom and better at least clean and make me dinner a few nights a week!

I was just looking at the Naso. Let me email John at BRK and see what he has and how much. I'll let you know after I hear from him. I'd like to get one no more than a few inches so it won't be too cramped in the 30 and it'll have a bit of room to grow while it munches.

Sounds good.
