astroboy January 7, 2009 January 7, 2009 Hello. I have a galaxea that's been doing well for the past six months but in the past week enough of it has died off that about 20% of the skeleton is exposed. I think I dropped something on it. Does anyone have any experience with the chances of this type of coral recovering? Will new polyps over grow the bare spot? Thanks!
astroboy January 7, 2009 Author January 7, 2009 Yes, yes I should have said, does anyone have any idea of the chances of a galaxea recovering.... I take it they're fairly robust?

When I received my first frags of galaxea one was partly dead(50%), and now, 3 months latter, it has taken over the dead parts and went from one small head to covering the mounting disc. I would say that the recovery is pretty much guaranteed from my experience.
jason the filter freak January 7, 2009 January 7, 2009 yes the recovery i've seen even in less than ideal water quality is promising
MisterTang January 8, 2009 January 8, 2009 One of my galaxea frags from fragfest fell polyp-first onto the ground, breaking all the little skeletons. I was about to just chuck it, but my wife convinced me to keep it around. It repaired the broken skeletons and has nearly doubled in size since the August fragfest. Galaxea is extremely robust. In fact, I believe you'll be cursing it in no time .
