treesprite December 30, 2008 December 30, 2008 Does putting softies and LPS together in a smallish (38g) tank cause the same problem for LPS as it can for SPS? I was planning to get just softies for the clown tank, but since I just built the rockwork taller I put a head of frogspawn in and might want to put some other type of LPS in there. Are there certain softies that are especially problematic re: toxins that I should just avoid those specific ones?
treesprite December 31, 2008 Author December 31, 2008 You should stick with freshwater fish. Hey! I actually haven't had fw for a couple years, they were in my office at what used to be my place of employment, the last fish of which went to Inna. I turned that tank into a nano, then a few months ago took it home, then moved the fish to my 65 when I moved out the clowns to the 38, which is the tank to which I am referring. In other words, the tank originally used for fw fish is now a component of where I am putting these corals.
lancer99 December 31, 2008 December 31, 2008 Forrest, I'm not aware of any problems mixing softies and LPS. Toadstools (Sarcophyton) have a reputation as being the most toxic, but I've had no problems mixing them (and Lobophytum) with Echinopora, Nemanzophyllia, Turbinaria, Symphyllia, etc. -R
