trockafella December 22, 2008 Share December 22, 2008 How to do know if you have a good established pod community...? I see them on the glass, and i see my cardinal eating them at night, but how do you know if you have a lot of them..?
jason the filter freak December 22, 2008 Share December 22, 2008 Your fish are fat and happy. I went and did something I had thought was hokey, but i had done it long ago with good results. Take little pieces of live rock, no bigger or longer than 2/3's of your pinky and make a number of little piles in your tank here and there piles tight enough where the average fish can't sneak into it but pods can come in and out. A pile of snail shells works well also.

Sharkey18 December 23, 2008 Share December 23, 2008 What if you don't see any pods in your tank at all? I see pods on my algae screen (visible in microscope) but never in my tank. I will try the rubble piles. Can I seed the tank from the algae scrubber? Any other suggestions? Laura
