OUsnakebyte November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 Has anyone else noticed the coral search from Australia Institute of Marine Science's website is gone? Or at least moved? I can't seem to access it: AIMS Coral Search Too bad - this was always a great taxonomic tool for stony coral references...
ctenophore November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 I wondered about that site, I noticed it wasn't working a few weeks ago. I hope it reappears somewhere, it was very useful.
dbartco November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 Been out for a number of months. Still see it linked in WWmedia and RC on artivles, but not working.
SeanCallan November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 Let's build a new one! I built a wiki style dictionary for a rifle association, it was quick and painless, we could easily do the same. Allow users to attach their own photos of the pieces, include recommends params, lighting, flow, tank mates. Lets do this!
dbartco November 21, 2008 Share November 21, 2008 I think this interfered with Veron's books sales? I doubt we could come close the the volume of research and ID of that site. It was more or less this book set online:
OUsnakebyte November 21, 2008 Author Share November 21, 2008 I think this interfered with Veron's books sales? I doubt we could come close the the volume of research and ID of that site. It was more or less this book set online: Yeah, we have that set at work, and it is indeed the gold standard for stony corals. I often wondered why people would buy the set when they had access to it online, for free... Looks like someone finally figured that one out... Bummer too; it was so convenient. reefmontalvo November 22, 2008 Share November 22, 2008 What are good resources for reading and knowing what types of corals there are in both the hobbyist world and the ocean?
NRehman November 26, 2008 Share November 26, 2008 I found the reference useful also so I contact AIMS about the coral resource....here's the updated link. They're looking for feedback...so please contribute to their efforts by sending some well thought out suggestions. http://data.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/icefaces/ListGUI.iface Enjoy!
