gastone March 25, 2003 March 25, 2003 I'm in the process of cycling my tank and I was wondering if anyone had any sand that they might be willing to part with to help my seed my dsb. Any help would be much appreciated.
michaelg March 25, 2003 March 25, 2003 Maybe Chideloh can give you some of the super rich sand he made off with today Current tanks still too new.
Gatortailale March 26, 2003 March 26, 2003 If you are in NoVA I can give you some crush coral / southdown mix. Craig
gastone March 26, 2003 Author March 26, 2003 Craig, I would really appreciate it. I've got about a 6-7" dsb at the moment and I can't think but how bare it looks without any life to inhabit it. I've been lookin online at these detrivore kits and 60-99 bucks sounds a bit steep on a teachers salary. Perhaps we could make arrangements when it's conveinient for you. Thanks for the help. michaelg March 26, 2003 March 26, 2003 The live sand at TRT is pretty decent. Just get a couple pounds. Also try to get a scoop or 2 from some or the live rock curing bins- usually there is a fair amount in the crushed up stuff.
Sph2sail March 27, 2003 March 27, 2003 I can bring some sand to the Spring Meeting, if you can wait that long. Others may do the same... Confirm this in the forum if you want to do it. s
Guest Scott324 March 27, 2003 March 27, 2003 Welcome to the board Jim. I can bring some to the meeting as well, but I would suggest that you go to Roozens and buy about 5lbs of the rubble rock (1.50/lb). This is what I have done to seed my tanks in the past and it has worked extremely well everytime. Many people have problems with roozens, but at least you can get good rubble for dirt cheap :D
