Never really looked into running ozone, but after speaking with Garrett about it this weekend, I think it might be something worth looking into. Who here runs Ozone and why are you using it instead of a UV sterilizer?? Most people are running their ozone into their protein skimmers, but does this affect skimmate production at all?? Any advice or experiences shared is appreciated.

The normal Ozonators you run on reefs may kill something as small as a virus, but will not kill anything larger like bacteria. You are better off using a UV sterilizer for that purpose. Ozone basically gives you clearer water.

It's not inexpensive. :)

Just added it back to my tank a couple days ago and things are looking VERY good. I LOVE how clear it makes the water.

Do you run yours through your skimmer?? If so, do you notice any change in skimmate production??

I have one order with NAGA. allot of his clinents have ozone and the water is crystal clear. so I cant wait to hook it up.

How much are we talking about for a decent ozone setup?

I'm running mine through the skimmer. Production is about the same.

Chris, do you have a JG fitting on your skimmer to run it through? If not, how do you run the ozone into the skimmer?

The one I getting I think is 230-250 . and I will start on the very low setting and slowly raise my clarity.

I don't get it. I thought Ozone essentially sterilizes the water, which would mean it would help against pathogens in the water column. Gonna go do some more reading. Looks like I'm sticking with UV at the time though. Thanks for the comments everyone.
