I've finally managed to budget for a tank setup and but I'd like to try acrylic this time around.

Right now I'm not in the market for a huge tank, I'd prefer something between 30-50g for an SPS only tank. I was originally thinking about a cube to get the most benefits from a MH but I'm open to ideas if anyone has any recommendations.

I used to run a 12g softie nano and a 75g SPS/LPS w/ a 50g refuge when I lived in GA. I've got a fair amount of knowledge about the hobby but I need to brush up. I enjoyed my previous tanks but they lacked things I was really looking for like external overflows and drilling. This time around I'd like to put more thought and planning into the tank and hopefully get it drilled to really cut down on the equipment visible in the display.

Are there any stores or vendors you recommend working with? I'm in the Alexandria area if it matters but I'm willing to pick up a tank.

Thanks,

You can send a PM to NAGA (Jeff). He builds acrylic tanks and prices are pretty good from what I understand. He was MIA for a while, but I think he's back and building again.

I thought I had sent him a PM previously but my sent box is telling me I'm a crazy person. I'll shoot him a quick PM and see if he has time to discuss a tank.

Thanks!

Your PMs don't automatically get copied to the sent folder. Also, you should definitey join the club - best $25 you'll ever spend. Tons of advice and plenty of gently used equipment that will save you tons of money as you set up this tank. There's actually a 55gal RR tank for sale right now ...

Yeah, I need to go ahead and do that since I'm getting serious about jumping back in the hobby. I'll probably take care of that after work today. Done.

Welcome to have you. Trust me, it'll be the best money you'll spend in the hobby. My first purchase on Wamas was a used skimmer that sold for $600 new. I got it for $200. Needless to say I happy I spent the membership fees. I'm sure I've saved hundreds, if not thousands, from buying used equipment on Wamas. Not to buying corals that are usually 1/2-1/3 of what they are at pet stores. Most importantly, I've learned what NOT to do in this hobby, by learning from the mistakes of experienced reefers who had been doing this for much long than I.

You should checkout the upcoming socials at the National Aquarium on Oct 4th. Great way to meet fellow members. We're also having a social at one of our supporting local fish stores, Aquarium Company. Those are usually a pretty good time. Hope to see you there.

Once you're added as a Member of course. Not sure he can get to the for sale area since his title still says "bb member". Our membership director should have you added once he gets back to his computer.

Alright, no problem I'll check out the link whenever they set me up.

Maybe once I've been accepted into the ranks we can find a way to automate that process; doesn't take much of an reason for me to write code.
