Sam August 8, 2008 August 8, 2008 What do you think about this lighting? This will be for 46G Softy/LPS setup. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...mp;pcatid=12772
amay121 August 8, 2008 August 8, 2008 Not bad. Not great though, but not bad. I think that sometimes you'll find better used equipment for the same price if you shop around. IMO.
jason the filter freak August 8, 2008 August 8, 2008 If you have the paticence I'd really rally reccomend going with a retro kit
yagerboy August 8, 2008 August 8, 2008 I had this fixture on my old 75g and worked well for softies and LPS. BTA did well but if you may move to SPS, I did not have as good of luck as with MH. I agree that if you have the patience and know how, a tretro fit will be better for less$
Sam August 8, 2008 Author August 8, 2008 I have done retro kits in the past and I agree that will give the best value. Challenge is, I have 46G bow front and it might be hard to create enclosed canopy for retro. I had this fixture on my old 75g and worked well for softies and LPS. BTA did well but if you may move to SPS, I did not have as good of luck as with MH. I am not planning to do any SPS. Trying to keep simple setup
MisterTang August 8, 2008 August 8, 2008 I have this fixture, and I love it. My Anthelia and Xenia frags obtained from FragFest a few weeks back have almost doubled in size. I got some SPS frags, and the 'easier' ones have seen measurable growth, but the 'harder' ones are pretty much just 'surviving', and not 'thriving'. No problem - I think SPS are boring anyway FYI, I paid $150 shipped off of eBay from CurrentUSA's auctions. Go for their Class A refurbished - these are returns for cosmetic scratches or broken bulbs, and come with a warranty. If I had to do it again, I'd get it... but I'd rather get the Extreme Pro (individual reflectors) if I had the cash Also, The lunar lights are great. My brain coral looks COMPLETELY different at night, and a bunch of weird worms and starfish venture out of the rocks.
