We just updated our PC lights to a sweet LED setup. Still waiting for the light meter to see what our output is...but with the lights set up on the tank only one week, all of our corals are noticeably happier than they were with only PC light. We have pulsating xenias who only started pulsating regularly with the new lights, about 5 different types of zoas, a hardy head of frogspawn, kenya trees, green mushrooms, a ricordia, and a sprig of birds nest.

Right now, we're looking for suggestions for a hard coral (or any coral, really) that is a true light lover to test out the lights. We were opting for the lower light corals before, but we added the birds nest when we set-up the lights, and it's doing quite well so far.

So, anybody have any suggestions? Or frags to donate/sell for research purpose? Anybody coming to Fragfest have corals of this nature?

You should try some type of monti first, since they're pretty hardy. Then make your way onto harder to keep stuff.

It's the one I posted under the DIY forum - DIY Luxeon LED lighting, Built an 18-watt light for feasability testing. Check it out!
