BeltwayBandit June 15, 2008 Share June 15, 2008 So I have had quite a bit of time to think and ponder over my new setup. I have finally decided to go with the marineland 6x3 300 gal setup. (I think). I have to check and see if they will custom drill a couple of holes in the back for me, if not....well I might get froggy like Bob. But. I was thinking. How can I minimize the number of penetrations in the actual tank and I had an idea. the 6x3 has corner overflows. I'm thinking about drilling a hole in the overflow, about midway down. Then put a uniseal fitting in the hole and run PVC (prolly 3/4 inch maybe 1 inch). Here is a sketch of my idea. This assumes that there is enough room in the overflow for a durso, return, and the closed loop suction.
YBeNormal June 15, 2008 Share June 15, 2008 I've seen that done before and it worked nicely. You need to consider how you will disassemble it for periodic cleanings but otherwise no issues.
jason the filter freak June 17, 2008 Share June 17, 2008 Have you seen the huge thread on mexicanjavafish's 75 gallon both the intake and return were though the fuge.
jamesbuf June 17, 2008 Share June 17, 2008 Not sure I understand was the hole will be for? For the closed loop intake?
