jakaufman April 24, 2008 April 24, 2008 (edited) I searched to see if I could find this PDF somewhere on the boards but didn't see it. Here is a great comparison of test kits and the variation of results as performed by DFWMAS/Melev's Reef. Interesting to see the results and, my main concern, how older Salifert kits compare to the new ones. http://www.dfwmas.org/pdf_files/Test%20Kit%20Analysis.pdf Figured I would share since it took me a bit to find the file! flowerseller April 24, 2008 April 24, 2008 Would be nice if there was a link. it would it be more helpful if there was someone to click in it for you too.
mogurnda April 24, 2008 April 24, 2008 it would it be more helpful if there was someone to click in it for you too. Even better if someone could read it to me. Okay, I read it. As far as I can tell, the conclusion is that you shouldn't spend too much time staring at your test kits.

Highland Reefer April 24, 2008 April 24, 2008 (edited) Joe, Thanks for the link. It pretty much verified what I suspected. I have been using Salifert and API test kits. My results for each one are pretty much the same. The Salifert does give a brake down in smaller elements than API, but for reeffing purposes I find either one works fine. I find that API is simplier to use and less expensive, so I use the API regularly and double check with Salifert to see more accurately where I am at as necessary. My two cents. dtfleming April 25, 2008 April 25, 2008 Use api kits and never had a problem. Interested that once again AWT testing has issue with their tests.

treesprite April 25, 2008 April 25, 2008 The API nitrate test you have to hold the vile the exact same distance from the white background every time you use it, otherwise your readings will not be respectively accurate.
