Hello All, I'm a little new and had a question I hope someone can help answer. I have some what I think are button polyps that have a white web-like substance has started to form around some of them. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing if someone can please help identify.

The picture was taken just after the lights came on so the polyps had not fully opened which gives the best view of my unexplained guest.

Thanks!

Will

Don't angel's eat that stuff? Sounds like it's time for a new fish

Usually that kind of sponge wont grow very well in direct lighting. I agree, I would remove as much of it from your polyps. I have tons of sponges in my tank but they are under the rocks or in shaded areas of the tank. They are filter feeders and contirbute to the filtration of your system.

Mine had tentacles that reached out from under the rocks, caps and such and it just made the tank ugly. I finally ripped out rocks that had them and replaced them with different rocks. Under one of my caps, it covered most of the underside. No matter how much I tried to scrape off, it stll manage to grow again. I finally threw that cap out too.

This stuff was not shy it was growing in an exposed area of the tank so it was getting full light. Some days I
