dshnarw March 15, 2008 March 15, 2008 ***pics are not mine, but pulled from blogs about Singapore's reefs/lagoons, in researching for the biotope*** ok, so we've all these reefing faux pas: -Acros/other SPS are hard to keep/sensitive animals -LPS shouldn't be taken out of water (too much flesh?) -sponges die if exposed to air (pretend it's raining in the pics...rainwater pH is ~5.5-6.0) Makes it hard to say "sensitive": Brain corals: Hammer coral: (Those boulders are single colonies of Euphyllia): Person, for scale: Sponges, low tide!! Just to bring a little levity to how the natural environment doesn't follow our silly little rules Our systems have a LONG way to go yet!
lancer99 March 15, 2008 March 15, 2008 I bet both those sponges and small Asian person will die when the tide comes back in. Maybe not -R
jason the filter freak March 15, 2008 March 15, 2008 that green brain out of the water is incredible!
Highland Reefer March 15, 2008 March 15, 2008 If I wanted to grow those corals in a reef system, they would probably die. It's kind of like, gardening.
lanman March 15, 2008 March 15, 2008 So... I guess I need about a 100-gallon holding tank to simulate 'low tide' in my 240? bob
