I must have caught Super Petz on an off day

I stopped by there today at lunch time for my semi-annual disappointment.

I was quite surprised at the place. Notable differences from last time:

-> didn't see a single dead or dying fish

-> didnt see ANY majanos (their displays used to be totally overrun)

-> quite a decent selection of fish at quite reasonable prices

-> they had some nice corals (though not many and too expensive)

They had a bunch of nice anemones, gobies, seahorses, black clowns ($24...the kind with yellow noses as juveniles...they were labeled as percs but I don't know how to ID). Everything was swimming around and looked good to me. Something must have changed down there. Has anyone else been recently?

Notable similarities from last time:

-> That creepy guy who works in the fish dept

-> Expensive corals

-> Annoying birds

-> Worst LR at any LFS I've ever been to.

I stopped going there about 2 years ago after they sold me a bunch of sick fish then claimed that my water was high in ammonia and nitrite and that was why all of the fish I bought from them died. I knew that was hogwash because I had tested that same water right before I left the house to bring the dead fish and the water sample to them t test, and my ammonia and nitrite was at 0.

I stopped by there a couple weeks ago and did notice that some of their sw fish look better, especially in the little cube tanks at the end of the isle. Prices in the small tanks were better from what I remember and the weird guy is still weird.

They are anemone looking things that will sting/strangle your corals. They spread fast and are a pain to get rid of kind of like aptasia except I think they look kinda cool.

Black Saddlebacks, A. polymnus like these juveniles:

Those are them. I like them, I have a pair as well. I wasn't sure if there was more than 1 type of clown that started with yellow noses, side fins and lost it later.

Mine have now lost all traces of yellow!

Another thing absent from SuperPetz this trip was the nasty green slime algae that covered everything in many tanks before.

whee
