dshnarw July 15, 2008 Author July 15, 2008 Phase one of the rescape is completed - thanks to the Mr. Coral social. Three of the most common corals I see pics of when I'm searching through the Singapore links are leathers, hammers, and brain corals. And I managed to find all three in the appropriate sizes and with prices worthy of me buying them. The smallest of the 3 new corals is about 5". But first, a couple of old corals under actinics: And the new stuff... the smallest pencil urchin I've ever seen - test is nickel-sized or smaller. another money cowry (I have 2 now - C. annulus and C. moneta) Amber bought me a smaller sized maze brain to go along with the larger one I bought. This one's still 2.5" across and sits nicely in front of the large blue one I got. The leather coral, looks much nicer with the polyps extended: And finally, the hammer coral. I have trouble getting the color right, but this and the other one at Mr. Coral were the only two I've ever seen this color combo (yellow, green, pink, and small hints of orange). these are more representative of the colors under actinics:
dshnarw August 6, 2008 Author August 6, 2008 stage 2 of the new direction: rescaping the tank...still deciding if I want to keep this version:
jason the filter freak August 6, 2008 August 6, 2008 you tank looks fantastic as ever, I'm still stunned by those blue and reds zoas
dshnarw August 8, 2008 Author August 8, 2008 Thanks Jason! I'm gonna have to start making frags of the red zoas soon...they've started colonizing the sand all over the tank.
dshnarw November 4, 2008 Author November 4, 2008 Updates? :D Well, the update for now is that the tank was moved recently from our apartment to our new home. I ended up just moving everything over to a 100g rubbermaid stock tub, and will eventually set the tank back up in some form. I'm still debating exactly what size and what livestock will go where. The mini carpets in it will be absent for a few months from whatever setup I do for the biotope in order to propagate them in a soon to be complete 50g stock tub. Once I get enough stock in the 50g, I'll toss my favorites back into the biotope and let them grow to see how big I can get them. A few pics of the tank, as is: Amber did a mini carpet point count, but she missed probably half of them:
