I'm sure this goes on in other people's tanks?? What do you notice in terms of polyps extending and not extending in relation to the unwelcome visitors?

I've noticed when I first put a frag in my tank - the hermits go over it with a fine-toothed comb. Haven't really correlated it with polyp extension, though.

Some of the hermits are new so maybe it's a similar thing.

Same here...listen closely, and you can almost hear them saying "new frags, fresh meat!"

 

Never seems to be a problem though, they seem to get bored quickly, go back to whatever they were doing (in my tank, mostly picking at the sand), and the frags are no worse for the wear.
