Can anyone show me the link on how to post pic, please? Because every time I tried to post pic in the sale forum, it won't let me. Even if I resized the pic to the smallest size available using the Microsoft image resizer tool/software.

Thanks,

Huy

This question comes up way too often.

Can't we find some way to make this easier on folks? It is very confusing.

Yes, please and thank you, Tim.

This is something just about every forum that I've moderated or administered has grappled with and I'm not sure it can be made any easier. We could remove all restrictions on file fizes and maybe allow direct posting of the pictures within threads, then everyone will complain about how slow the system has become and why membership fees have risen so much (to pay for extra storage and bandwidth).

Here's all you need to do:

1) sign up for an account on a free image hosting service such as www.PhotoBucket.com

2) upload your pictures to the image hosting server

3) copy the link to the picture and enclose it between img tags, example:

[img=http://www.myphoto-on-photobucket.com]

4) paste the link into your post.

PhotoBucket even does the formatting for you. Click on the "IMG Code" line and the link is automatically copied to the clipboard!

Pin it! Photobucket is FREEEEE!

Can we at least get rid of the button on the post form that says 2.95k post space left if this cannot be used?

That confused me for a long time.

It sure seems like WAMAS' pockets are deep enough to enable that button and buy some more equipment if it becomes necessary. Some folks might even be willing to donate equipment.

That actually is used but I'm having a senior moment and don't remember how or when it applies.

Deep pockets? Not really and besides, we don't own the server. We lease services from a web hosting service like most other sites so installing user-provided hardware is not an option. Besides, it is very easy for everyone to use a third-party image hosting service and it doesn't cost WAMAS a dime.

If you really want to host images on WAMAS, use the member gallery! It's no easier or better than hosting on PhotoBucket, Webshots or other similar sites though except folks on WAMAS will be able to browse your all of your images rather than seeing only the ones you provide a link to. Jason posted detailed directions somewhere on WAMAS for use of the gallery.

Well in that case, I am just going to do what I've been doing. And that is just posted in my gallery.

Thanks everyone,

Huy

Thanks Bob I have been in the club for a year and still have not posted anything. i need to show offf my tank sometime.

I think it's pretty confusing for most folks, myself included. It's the obvious thing to do, but it doesn't work.

Most, if not all the time I see folks having a hard time posting pics, they tried to use that functionality.

Deep pockets? Not really

It's all relative of course. But from the last financial I've seen (which is admittedly old), WAMAS has 10s of thousands of dollars on hand. I don't think something like making it easier for folks to post pics would bankrupt us. And it would be one of few things that would benefit most of us.

That's how I've been doing it, and it's an annoying hassle, like all the options listed. All I'm trying to say is those are all severely inferior options to making the "post image" button work...as evidenced by the number of folks who ask about how to do it...the mere fact that someone needs to post detailed instructions speaks volumes.

***PLEASE POST THIS IN THE FAQ.***

I've spent *way* too much time trying to figure this out and I have a BS in IT.

Also, if we can't upload pics, remove the button. It's just confusing.

Easier to just use photobucket, IMO - as a side bonus, WAMAS's hosting account uses less bandwidth!

I know that sounds easier, but I've had my Picasa set up for so long that I can't just up and move everything over. Just too much hassle; friends and family moving links and stuff.

I'm figuring it out though. Where's my Ritalin...
