Okay, my clam is starting to look like it may have an issue. I have heard of Pinched Mantle disease but have never seen it. Could that what this is? Anyone have any idea if this is actually a problem or does it look like maybe something is just bothering it?

This was one month ago.

Looks like pinched mantle to me....

Fresh water dip (read up on them) is the prescribed treatement... I've done it to a couple of clams and it seems to work well.

What do you do if the calm is attached to a rock? Mine is stuck on pretty good and Im not sure if I can get it off.

Can't you lift the whole thing out or is the rock a big piece with other rocks on top of it?

I wish I could... the rock its attached to it the biggest in my tank and has a lot of other stuff on it.

You can cut the foot of the clam with scissors or a razor blade, but if you mistakenly pull the foot out, your clam will die withing 48hrs maximum. Another method is an ice cube on it's foot... Best of luck.

Couple of things you can do... some allready mentioned... also you can break up the rock it's on... hammer and chisel... actually most live rock is pretty brittle and easily broken.

Try a scapel since it's much sharper and easier to hadle than a razor blade.

I'm sure Dave is not suggesting to chisel it in the tank itself (unless you two have exchanged unkind words in the past) or ( he does not realize you have a ticket book and pen)

The hammer and chisel sounds dangerous in a glass tank...

I just read that it was a big rock, not that the rock wasn't removable... :why:

TOO FUNNNNNNNNNNNYYYYYYYYYYy

Thanks everyone. I was able to cut him off of the rock and I have done the fresh water dip. Now I guess I just have to wait and see how he does. Thanks.
