The littler boogers are back!!!!! I nearly killed everything in my tank and this freaking things are still alive!!!!!!!!!!

Well I'm going to do my darn best to catch my remaining fish. I'm going to pull as much livestock as I can out of the tank and put them in my frag tank. Then I'm going to try and nuke them again. I can't believe this crap. Flat worms %$#* me off. I can't stand these little...<fill in the blank>!

Forgive my ignorance... what do they do that negatively impacts a reef?

Are you sure these are the "bad" flatworms? If they are totally clear, they are very common and probably not an issue.

These aren't acro eating flatworms, but they are a problem. They look ugly and cover everything. They aren't clear. They have red/orange look to them.

They are ugly... if you get enough of them, they cover everything, including corals - blocking out the light.

im sorry to hear youve got to deal with them again, but this time around should not turn into a disaster as you will be taking precations you didn't know to take before. Good luck.

treat early to keep from what happened last time. In small amounts they are easier to get rid of without ill effects

Yeah. I'm going to treat them this weekend. I'm not sure what I can do differently other than treat them earlier and pull as much livestock as I can to my frag tank. I did the siphoning, water changes, and carbon last time.

You prob had alot more flatworms than you thought and they released alot of toxins. You should be ok this time

IF your frag system is free of flatties - be sure to at least shake them really good in tank water to get any loose ones off on the way over. Put them in front of a powerhead first; that gets rid of them except in crevices and stuff. Or if you really want to be careful - give them a 20-minute dip in tank water with EXIT, then rinse in clean tank water.

 

Siphon, and suck out with a turkey baster ALL of the flatties that you can find. Then take a loose powerhead and go over all the rocks and crevices and knock them out into the water stream. Catch them in a filter of some sort. Siphon them out again. Once you have pretty much NO visible flatworms - then treat the tank. The EXIT is not supposed to be harmful on its own. My experience with dipping corals agrees with that. I'm too chicken to whack my tank - but I have very very few worms anymore.
