jason the filter freak September 5, 2007 September 5, 2007 I'm putting a bulkhead though an overflow so there is going to be water on both sides of the bulk head but I only want to prevent water from leaking one way. So in a normal situation does the O ring go on the water side of an application or on the outside? The inside right?
YBeNormal September 5, 2007 September 5, 2007 It goes on the flange side of the bulkhead fitting, not on the nut side, regardless if the flange is inside or outside of the tank.

YBeNormal September 5, 2007 September 5, 2007 No reason to feel dumb. You were smart enough to ask! You'd have felt dumb if you put it on the other way and it leaked. As you've already discovered, parental units don't like leaks.
flowerseller September 5, 2007 September 5, 2007 Does anyone install the nut side inside the tank? I have no problem with doing that. It can make it difficult to remove down the road but with a sawzall or dremel, splitting the nut later is not an issue.
