Also, they are supposed to have PE mysis now, so I'm going to see if there are any small packs of it.

toastiireefs October 16, 2007 Author October 16, 2007 WHEEE pics of my HA infested tank and fishies!! (i know im an awful person for not QTing- i did plan to, i just got excited and forgot...i feel bad too!) thats my new fire fish- aint he pretty (i havent thought of a name yet) this is munchie the lawnmower blenny- who is munching everything but rocks. then i dont have a pic of my tailspot who also is nameless, because he was hiding. anyone have any good names for my firefish or blenny
toastiireefs October 27, 2007 Author October 27, 2007 so i added ferric oxide, i have maunally removed, i got a munching lawnmower blenny, i have adjust flow every so often.... and it just spreads EVERYWHERE minus a few spots that munchie keeps clean... he eats it off everywhere BUT the rocks... grrr but it wont go away. i think im gonna add another power head.... the caulerpa is growing strong and like running away from the HA but it chases it! i have turned off the lights for a while. i have done a lot of things... i think what im gonna do is this 1) do 10% water changes everyday or every other day for a week (then switch to monthly) 2) manually remove as much as i can 3) add a power head 4) keep lighs off for a week 5) cover the side exposed to window with black construction paper (not necessarily in that order... but im gonna do all of those!!! )

Really clean, really perfect water makes your hair algae weak. Sunlight? Yeah - that couldn't help much. Good luck - mine just 'went away' one day. bob
toastiireefs December 13, 2007 Author December 13, 2007 so i cleaned my skimmer, fixed my power heads... annnd manually removed as much as possible.. its slowly coming back but i can manage it now my friend is buyying me a fish for the holidays and i was giving her a list of fish to gett and where to get it from and i was thinking for one option a longnosed hawkfish? is there any bad exxperiences i should know or behavioural issues? i know my dad really likes them so i thought it would be a good idea!? but there are other fish on the list too that i know are ok... this one i wasnt sure they have jumping issues right? and also hmm what else idk haha im also gonna get my clownfish in a month or two. !!! i decided to go with misbared but i might change my mind before then! should i try to get my fish to eat flake also? How do you do that? do they know to eat flake? haha i sound stpid! but like is theere any special technique to ween them on flake or should i stick with mysis? oh and update on seahorses! 4 2-4month old fry 1 7.5 month old adult :D (i raised) 2 adult male fry!
jason the filter freak December 13, 2007 December 13, 2007 Get them onto mysis/brine, then once they're hooked. Mix the frozen with flake, then switch them to flake, you can also use pelleted food. It's not complicated and will save you the mess and cost of constantly feeding frozen down the line. Always very the diet though.
toastiireefs December 23, 2007 Author December 23, 2007 the tail spot should be eating some algea right? because what i see is that it doesnt eat the mysis so much the fire fish is lovin it though i was considering a longnose hawkfish any thoughts?
toastiireefs December 25, 2007 Author December 25, 2007 IM GETTING CORALS!!!! I'll post pictures when i get home from the zoo
lanman December 25, 2007 December 25, 2007 should i try to get my fish to eat flake also? How do you do that? do they know to eat flake? haha i sound stpid! but like is theere any special technique to ween them on flake or should i stick with mysis? Flake is good because it is more 'food' and less water. You need less of it to keep the fish full and happy. Continue to feed a varied diet, but include flake in it, and feed it separately - and when the fish should be hungry. Once some of your fish are eating it, the others will follow, just out of food competition. Hope your Christmas corals are nice! bob

toastiireefs February 1, 2008 Author February 1, 2008 So i got the beautiful RBTA from chip, very cute and litte, though has really opened up nicely. i was hoping it would take a while for my clowns to find it because it has some growing to do.. but today i found my clowns "bathing" in it. or hosting/prehosting.. there isnt enough room in there for the two of them yet, and they are bother hosting.... its really cute but im just worried about the nem? should i be? -Sara
dshnarw February 1, 2008 February 1, 2008 IME, clowns can beat a new anemone to death if not watched closely. If it shows signs of being stressed, you should work on getting them separated until the BTA settles in well. If it doesn't look stressed, it'll probably be okay.

dshnarw February 3, 2008 February 3, 2008 what are signs ofit being stressed? once i get a usb cord for my camer i hav an adorable video of my clown and the nem, im just worried about the nem a bit very deflated, gaping mouth, "spitting" zooxanthellae, tentacles looking...ragged? (not sure how to describe it...but not pretty) Of course, deflation and gaping mouth can also happen with a healthy, happy nem too, if they're pooping or something.
