bk_market March 2, 2007 March 2, 2007 I did some research on cycling the tank and came across this Right Now Bacteria http://memory-doctor.com/Aqua/rightnowfw.html It stated that it will cycle the tank in 24hrs. Does this work? Am I misunderstanding something? anyone have experience using this product before?
jamesbuf March 2, 2007 March 2, 2007 First rule in this hobby, nothing good happens fast. Usually the only thing fast thing that happens are disasters. I'm sure plenty of people will tell you the same. Gotta go pass out, this site is freaking addictive.
emissary March 2, 2007 March 2, 2007 I wouldn't attempt to rely on a 24 hour cycle. The shortest I've managed to do is 11 days and that was taking advantage of it being a partial migration. Do the right thing -- monitor levels, watch for the ammonia spike, and continue to take measurements until you see NH4, NO3 and NO2 drop to zero. then, you'll be done.
YBeNormal March 2, 2007 March 2, 2007 The only product I know of that actually contains live bacteria--and the right kind of bacteria--to cycle a tank in one day is BioSpira made by MarineLand. It is not cheap, has a shelf life and must be refrigerated at all times. All of the dry powders and other quick cycle products on the market are (IMHO) garbage and should be banned. Even though I've seen BioSpira used on FW tanks and can say that it really does work when stored and used properly (they also make a SW version), I've never used it myself. I prefer to be patient and handle things naturally. For FW tanks, I use ammonia and a good set of test kits. For SW, I use LR and an even better set of test kits. No hurry and shortcuts.

Nitrite, nitrate, ammonia all 0 and they were up there the day it crashed. It was $15 per package and i think it was for maybe 30g each package??? I would try to cycle with it to speed it up some but i would watch parameters like you do during a normal cycle. I think it might work in 24 hours though. Try it but plan for the worst case.
Rascal March 2, 2007 March 2, 2007 A few highlights from the web site: " 2. Reduces and eliminates Nitrates, Phosphates and Potash AEROBICALLY for a cleaner looking aquarium and pond 3. Consumes Sludge. Add fish five minutes after adding Right Now ! Bacteria
