fry_school101 February 19, 2007 February 19, 2007 I recently changed a working florescent ballast from one fixture to another and now the light won't work. The only thing I changed were the endcaps, which were also from a working fixture. The wiring is per the diagram. Any ideas? I've removed and reinserted the wires in the endcaps half a dozen times each. I'm so puzzled on this one! Anyone have a suggestion?
madmax7774 February 20, 2007 February 20, 2007 well, I would have to guess there is a wiring problem. Check the wiring again. Maybe you have a bad connection somewhere...
fry_school101 February 20, 2007 Author February 20, 2007 *grimace* okay. i'll check it again. not sure it'll help though as i've rewired it so many times. it all matches the diagrams and the caps are secure. . . thanks for the help.
Caribbean Jake February 20, 2007 February 20, 2007 have you checked ground? all your wire nuts are tight? all wires are making good connection? is there polarity in your ballasts? have you cheked the main power source to se if there is power coming to your ballasts? just some thoughts. I have a meter if you want to check the wires, perhaps you have a bad (burn) wire. I will be available Friday or maybe Monday. Jacob

I was going nuts last night - got my daughter a new computer, hooked it up, and the keyboard didn't work. Tried another keyboard - and it didn't work. Turned out that as a final act of defiance in its death throes, her old computer was frying keyboards, and had fried both of those. Found a third keyboard in a box, and it worked just fine. Maybe one of the end caps developed an open when moved from point A to point B, or something. bob
fry_school101 February 21, 2007 Author February 21, 2007 Jake, I may take you up on that, but it probably won't be for another week or two. I have a deadline at work that is occupying most of my time Bob, I'll plug another ballast back in to check the caps again. Each cap has four holes that will hold a wire. They should all work right? I know i have a bit of wire stuck in one of them, but there are still several holes to choose from. . .
