Guest vatbrew February 3, 2007 February 3, 2007 So far I have a toadstool leather, some shrooms, xenia, GSP, and Sinularia.
HowardofNOVA February 3, 2007 February 3, 2007 I think that CHEMICAL your talking about is VIAGRA! Ok ok ok sorry! As someone recently posted "Don't add anything to your tank that your not testing for!" The easy answer is yes, but might not require too?
inedukated February 4, 2007 February 4, 2007 I don't think you need to add any chemicals. Your corals are pretty durable, so as long as your water levels are ok, you should be fine. Maybe, maybe you'll need to add some calcium if those levels are low, but as long as your nitrates/phosphates are low and your water is fine, you shouldn't need to worry. Keep it simple. Only dose if there's a problem. -Ben
dandy7200 February 4, 2007 February 4, 2007 I think that CHEMICAL your talking about is VIAGRA! Speak for yourself there Howard... Just change water on a regular basis. All those suppliments are in the salt mix, thats why it cost so dang much money for a bucket of salt.
emissary February 4, 2007 February 4, 2007 I could copy and paste what someone else wrote, but what fun is there in that? Those corals should be fine with regular water changes.
jason the filter freak February 4, 2007 February 4, 2007 From personal exp, leave the chemical additives alone!
Guest vatbrew February 4, 2007 February 4, 2007 What about Kalk? Would using a Kalk reactor help out softies much?
flowerseller February 4, 2007 February 4, 2007 What about Kalk? Would using a Kalk reactor help out softies much? Yes. All soft coral have calcium based spicules for form and structure. That said, they will not draw from calcium ions quite as heavily as an SPS would but will draw on them. As has been mentioned and repeated, as well established water exchange schedule with pre prepared seawater is your best solution for element replenishment. Kalkwasser can boost all calcium ions and help provide a bank to keep your PH stable.
Rascal February 5, 2007 February 5, 2007 As someone recently posted "Don't add anything to your tank that your not testing for!" Ditto. That goes for Ca & Alk too.
