Looks like this: http://www.zoaid.com/index.php?module=Gall...p;g2_itemId=762

Well i have them on a few of my colonies and its weird because its only the ones i have had forever. I did a lot of reading on RC and no ones seems to know exactly what it is and everyone has different steps to try and stop it. One thing they said was to dip them in tetracycline (used to medicate fish for gill disease and pop eye) for 10 min. I did this but noticed that one colony looks like it wont make it but time will tell if i lose anymore. I cant tell for sure if this helped yet but its suposed to stop it from spreading. If anyone has seen this and know what it is and how to handle this please help me out. All my parameters are good. I heard that it could be a toxic buildup, bacteria, parasite, because of MH or even a seasonal event that happens this time of year, so i am not sure what to beleive. Please help i am losing some nice stuff.

i highly doubt it's because of MH... i've seen many people with zoas under MH for years and no effects.

so those are attached? could they be nudis?

its not a nudi but more of a bump under the skin. When i poked it very lightly with some tongs it burst and was a milky consistency.

Find someone that has a microscope or get yourself an inexpensive one (from discovery channel store) and check out what the milky white stuff is under the microscope. You ought to be able to tell if its a parasite, bacteria, or neither that way. Maybe... I like looking at things under a microscope and sometimes that gives you all the answers.

Hey Chris,

I've done quite a bit or reading on this myself. Seems that many agree that the best course of action is to give the zoas high flow with frequent water changes and to remove carbon from the system if you are running any. Not much to go on.

Garrett.

Two quick questions.

1. Will this kill the zoas?

2. If yes to #1, how much do you want for some of it?

1. YES

2. I THINK I MIGHT OF KILLED IT BUT IF NOT YOUR WELCOME TO IT

I did read that it hit randomly and not neccesarly all your zoos and i dont think it bother palys. If you tried it more than likely it would kill your zoos just for the simple fact that you wanted them to.

Phisigs79,

I have been battling with this pox for a while too. I have been experimenting with Furan 2, a med that fight against fungus. I use this med to fight against fungus when i used to breed Discus (freshwater fish). Alot of people in RC are dealing with this. You should check out this link:

This is what I wrote over RC:

Ok guys here is the summary of my experience with Furan. Here is what you need.

1 cup of RO water. 1 capsule of Furan and 1 extra cup of your tank water ( this is used to wash the zoas before put it back in your main tank after the treatment, I do this because I dont want to risk Furan from killing any of my fish and other corals).

Procedure: Match the temp of your RO and PH level to your current tank. Mix 1 capsule into RO cup and mix it good until RO water turn green. After the dip, wash the zoas in your tank water on the other cup you had put aside. Then put the zoas back in the tank where there is a stronger flow.

Do three treatment in a row then let it rest for exactly one week, then continue with another three treatment. Repeat if your zoas are not improving.

Keep in mind, during the treatment I slowly increase my temp from 78 to 81-82. Furan works best in higher heat. But I would not go over 82. In freshwater I bump it up to 84-86 for Furan treatment.

I also increase my water change from 5 gal per week to 10 gal every 3 days.

Here is what I did on my zoas:

1st WEEK

1st treatment started with 3 min dip

2nd treatment started with 5 min dip

3rd treatment started with 7 min dip

Rest for 1 week

2nd WEEK

4th treatment started with 10 min dip

5th treatment started with 15 min dip

6th treatment started with 20 min dip

I will give it another week to rest then will continue if there are still white bumps on my zoas. So far my mean green is looking great..most of the bumps have cleared. I will take an update pics for you guys later tonight.

I must say, this procedure has worked for me, it might not work for you. So please do this at your own risk.

Thanks

I have noticed that the bumps are going away on the zoos i treated with Tetracycline but lost alot of polyps. Zoos that have not been dipped have seemed to contact the same bumps so tonight i will be treating all my zoos reguardless if they have them or not. Did you lose any zoos? I lost a small colony and almost all my mean greans but maybe 3 polps.
