Is there a way to visually tell alkalinity/calcium?

I changed over my dosing containers, and forgot to label what's what (just calcium and alkalinity, ESV bIonic solution)

I'm pretty sure it's the alkalinity that gets white buildup, precipitation, around the lid?

Feeling like this is one of the most foolish questions I've ever asked on here!

Take a little out and put it in the tank - white cloud in the water is alkalinity (especially if it's soda ash).  My calcium also seems more viscous at standard concentrations (though magnesium is even more viscous still).

Could also take like 100mL of salt water or something and add a few drops and measure.

😂. I’m 99% sure you’re right. I’m using All 4 reef now so I only dose 1 thing.

This is the way, I should have thought about that! Thanks!

It’s ok. We’ll let it slide. Haha

It's amazing the amount of things you forget if you don't do them regularly, lol.
