xabo November 28, 2022 November 28, 2022 Can anyone possibly explain why Chaeto immediately breaks apart when placed into the sump? Alk 8.3 Ca 430 Mag 1400 PH 8.0 No3 49 (Hanna) Po4 0.41 (Hanna) Temp 77.5
ReefdUp November 28, 2022 November 28, 2022 Have you ever used Vibrant? That aside... are you able to grow any other macroalgae or other algae at all? Are you doing anything for iodine? Do you have green corals or soft corals in the tank, and if so, how are they doing?
xabo November 28, 2022 Author November 28, 2022 (edited) Never used Vibrant, was dosing Chaetogro. Haven't tried any other algae. No corals in tank at this time only fish. Lighting is Kessil H160 Tuna Flora. Edited November 28, 2022 by xabo
wildcrazyjoker81 November 29, 2022 November 29, 2022 Even chaeto in larger chunks break apart or been small size chunks? No reason it shouldn't thrive with nitrate/phosphate that high realistically. Chaeto really only needs light, nitrate, phosphate, iron, and small amounts of other trace to grow.
p3rmafrost December 13, 2022 December 13, 2022 Have you ever done an ICP test? Maybe there is a trace element in high amounts that the chaeto is responding to? I can't grow chaeto either, but I think mine is related to very low nutrient levels. Mine doesn't break apart or dissolve, it simply doesn't grow.
