  2. Hi, I am going off to college soon and am going to take a 10 gallon aquarium. I am look for a 10 gallon aquarium with hood, light, and filter. Gravel and decor is a plus. No stand needed. I am going off to college so am somewhat short on money which means I am looking for a cheap setup. Thanks, Ali
  3. Hi, Last weekend I made too much new saltwater for a water change. I still have this saltwater and was wondering if I could still had it to my tank without it having any negative affects. Thanks, Ali
  4. So a couple of days ago I stuck my hand into my tank and felt a shock. At first I thought that some saltwater got into a cut of my but later I looked at my finger and realized that there was no cut. My finger stung for a couple minutes after I had stuck it in my tank. I then looked at some of my corals and realized that a couple of them were closed up when usually they were completely open. So I have come up with the conclusion that there is a some amount of voltage in my tank. Some members of ReefCentral have told me to go out and buy a grounding probe and be done with the problem. Others have told me that if I do stick a grounding probe into the tank that it causes and electric current because it creates a circuit which could lead to my fish getting certain diseases. I was wondering if any WAMAS members have been using grounding probes and what the pros and cons might be for using grounding probes? Also do grounding probes have to be plugged into a GFCI outlet or could the be plugged into an ordinary outlet and do the same thing? Thanks, Ali
  5. Ok so I think its time to add a refugium... I already have a "built in" refugium in my sump, but need to add chaeto. The last time I tried to start up my refugium, the chaeto disappeared after about 2 weeks. I had a maxi jet in there for flow and a flood light for....light. I still do not know why it didnt at least survive if not grow. So I want to do it right this time. Can you guys and gals give me some info on how to start up and KEEP my refugium running. I know that I am making this more complicated than it should be, but I want to make sure that the chaeto actually lives this time. Thanks, Ali
  6. I bought a yellow clown goby in the BZA group by led by magnetic1. The goby is doing fine but I feel as though frozen mysis shrimp are just too big for it. What would you guys and gals recommend me feeding it? Cyclopeeze? Thanks, Ali
  7. Just recieved my two new Koralia 4's. They are ten times better than my Seios. The Koralias have a much wider flow than the Seios. Here are some pictures of them. Left Side: Ride Side: Bad FTS:
  8. I found out that Centreville Aquarium carries some so I picked one up. Thanks, Ali
  9. I just stepped on my aiptasia syringe and cracked the plastic part that hold the kalk "solution." I only have one more aiptasia that I need to blast. So I was wondering if any in or around Centreville has one that I could borrow for a day or so. Thanks, Ali
  10. Wow, your tank looks beautiful! I just ordered Koralias and was wondering how you like yours. Ali
  11. I just sold my Seio 1500's because I felt that they were just too strong for my 75g. I am now going to buy Koralia's. I just do not know which ones to buy. I feel that if I buy the #4's, which are 1200gph, it will be the same as my Seio's, creating too much flow. I believe that if I buy the #3's, which are 850gph, that will create a nice flow in my tank. The only reason I have not completely decided that I want two #3's is because I have seen people with 75g tanks that say they wish they got the #4's instead of the #3's. Which ones do you guys think I should get? And for those that actually have Koralia's, any model, how do you like them? Thanks, Ali P.S. I am going to be keeping a mix, between SPS and LPS.
  12. For Sure!!! This much more MIND-BLOWING than my tank. LOL.
  13. As some of you know, recently I tore my tank down and set it back up. On my old setup I never had any problems with microbubbles, but on this one I do. The microbubbles are definitely coming from my Euro Reef CS8-2. I just dont know how to stop them from coming. The Euro Reef also has a gate valve mod, if that makes a difference . Do you guys have any suggestions on how I can stop them? Thanks, Ali
  14. I never thought about painting the overflow box, but I think it will look much better. I will have to do that this weekend. Thanks, Ali
  15. Hellooo Everybody!!! I have always wanted to make a tank thread for my 75g tank, but never thought it was good enough, well guess what.....NOW IT IS!!! Over President's Day weekend my brother, Mohsin aka Weap0n_X aka Picasso (you'll find out later why his nickname is Picasso), and I worked on my tank, stand, and canopy all day and all night. First we needed to tear down the aquascape and make sure nothing was on the rocks, which there was. The rock was filled with aiptasia, which were a "PIA" to kill, but luckily I got them all. I used the kalk method to kill them off. I loaded up the syringe and blasted away. The next day when we were ready to aquascape, they just fell off. Anyways, after we got all the rock cleaned up, it was time to focus on the stand and canopy. The first thing we needed to do was sand the stand and canopy down till they were smooth. After that came the easy part, my brother painted it black, put on the new handle bars, and we were good to go. He then spray painted the back of the fish tank black, which looks awesome. After that we stuck the tank on top of the stand and then added new aragonite sand because the sand was a little low before. Then it was aquascaping time . Mohsin created my aquacape which is why we call him picasso. In less than an hour he had the aquascape up and it looked awesome....my favorite part. After aquascaping, we filled up the tank, stuck the canopy on, and got all the equipment running. Then came the hard part, cleaning up the basement, took me all of Monday. Anyways here is the final product....Enjoy the pictures. More pictures to come as the tank matures and more things are added. Ali
  16. Tangs do grow to be a foot or more, in the ocean. In a tank their growth depends on the size of your tank. A tang in a 180g will grow larger than a tang in a 90g.
  17. Chris I was also joking , beautiful frag by the way.
  18. WOW!!! That looks awesome. Let me get a frag of that also .
  19. Bothsides of the aquascape are really nice!!! Seems like the right side has alot of space for the corals and alot of small caves... I LIKE IT!!!
  20. WOW!!!!! That aquascape looks awsome! Maybe you should help me with mine...
  21. Is KILZ primer? Also, where can I get it?
  22. I plan on painting my stand and canopy either this weekend or next. The stand and canopy are both black right now and I am planning to paint them white. Would I have to sand the stand and canopy or could I just put two layers of white paint on them??? Thanks, Ali
  23. One of my bulbs has begun to flicker. At first I thought it was my ballast, but then I tried the bulb on another ballast and it kept flickering so now im thinking its the bulb. i was wondering if anyone has a bulb, which they are not using, that i can use to see if the problem is my bulb. Please LMK. Thanks, Ali
