  1. Thanks for all of the nice remarks guys, I've had the acan for a year or so (when I first got it it was about 2 polyps). I just noticed the color morphing last night and thought I would take a picture and share. I purchased this guy from Mr Coral....it has really colored up in my tank since I purchased it. cheers, Darren
  2. Here is a picture of one of my acans.....if you look at the upper left polyp you can see color morphing taking place. It is tough to get a good picture of this guy as he is in my show tank. cheers, Darren Here is a flash picture that you can see the color morph better....
  3. Does anyone have Jeff's (NAGA) email? If so, could you pm it to me (I'm looking to have him make me a custom sump)..... thanks, Darren
  4. I have a frag of that chalice and the colors on my frag are nowhere near as nice....mine is just a maroon blob. cheers, Darren
  5. If so, can you tell me what PAR your sunset monti has.....Mine has lost it's color and I think it is because I have decreased the light in my tank and I was hoping for a sampling of PAR numbers from people here. thanks, Darren
  6. Merry Christmas WAMAS! cheers, Darren
  7. Did you do the shark dive with Stuart Cove? I did some diving with them in the bahamas a few years back and saw that they had a shark feeding dive, but I passed to scuba on a reef wall instead. cheers, Darren
  8. No treats, they just chose to hang out with us.
  9. So I was on vacation last week in Bradenton and I went snorkeling with manatees on the Crystal river and thought I would share some pictures (I wasn't sure which forum to post this in). Definitely a great time and I recommend this to anyone if they get a chance. First picture is my wife and I petting a juvenile: The second picture is that same manatee going up to the boat to be pet by my parents: The last picture is one of the manatee rolling over to get pet on the belly (Kind of like a dog): In this pic you can see the line that separates the restricted areas from the open snorkeling area. This allows the manatees to interact with people only when they want to. In 15 years of diving I have never seen a wild animal so interested in humans. Manatees have no wild predators so they are extremely docile and quite gentle. This has to rank with one of my best wildlife experiences of all time. cheers, Darren
  10. Sure you can use it Chip.....I'm glad you like it... cheers, Darren
  11. Thanks for all of the kind words....I got the pink yuma at Vivid aquariums.......I've had a few pink yumas and they never do well (I won't be fragging this guy)....we'll see how this works out (I've had him for a few months). The picture was taken with a Nikon D60. cheers, Darren
  12. Weather sucks, so I thought I would post a couple of pics..... cheers, Darren
  13. Here you go..... cheers, Darren
  14. Thanks all.....I do target feed my acans (I target feed all of my LPS when I'm not being lazy).....not because they need it to survive, but because they grow faster and require less symbiotic algae living inside of them and thus I believe that enables better coloration of the coral (that is the premise for the zeo method and all of the hybrids). That said, I have no data to back this up except for experience watching the corals response to feeding. cheers, Darren
  15. Sorry, I can't attach any more pics to this thread.....the first pic was too large... Darren
  16. Here are a few pictures of an acan that I purchased from 143gadgets at a WAMAS meeting. The first is through the tank, the second is from above, and the third is when it is eating (notice the pink ring that forms around the mouth.....pretty cool!). Thanks Chris for the great acan! cheers, Darren
  17. Here is a purple and orange acan from my tank.....first pic is through the tank, second is from above....sorry for the poor quality in the second picture....I can't use my tripod for top down shots.... cheers, Darren
  18. I've got a couple of nice ones from Sonny as well.....I'll try to post them in the coming weeks.... cheers, Darren
  19. I have none for sale right now......I generally ignore my tank over the summer and focus more on it during the winter months....so probably in the winter time I will frag some stuff.... cheers, Darren
  20. I got the acan from cherry corals.....it is called "tye dye" acan.... cheers, Darren
