  1. Sweet. Thanks for the follow up Brad! I was already 95% sold on going with a mame for my 25g Landen when I set it up. Now I'm 100% convinced it's the route I want to go.
  2. Now that you've been using it for a while, I'm curious -- how do you like the mame overflow?
  3. Awesome insights. Thanks for starting this thread CaptBlenny. I too am planning on putting a BeanAnimal overflow on a custom nano (22g 18 x 18 x 18) that I'm hoping to set up after the holidays. Am planning out the system now and insights/experiences such as this are a big help in the decision making process. I was originally draw to the BeanAnimal because of the immense safety against overflow that it provides. But, given that it will be set up in my home office, it's great to know it virtually silent as well.
  4. I concur as well. Have been planning out my first tank for the past few weeks (an 18 x 18 x 18 custom rimless cube). When I first saw a picture of a rimless with black silicon I thought 'that looks sharp!", but it was an empty tank. In every picture I've come across of established tanks with black silicon, it feels as though my eye is first drawn to the silicon rather than the contents of the tank. That makes me believe that over time I'd come to see it as a distraction or obstruction rather than as a 'cool touch of bling'. That's just my personal take on it though...
  5. Which two days does it look like help will be needed most on right now? Being a complete newbie who's never been to one before, I'd like the chance to spend at least one day as an attendee. I'll be happy to serve as a volunteer for the other two. Just let me know which two days you're most short-handed on and I'll select them when I fill out the survey.
  6. Not to throw the thread track, but I've got to say that threads like this are great for newbies like me -- for two reasons... The first is kind of obvious: a great opportunity to learn from the experiences -- both good and bad -- of others. But the second may not be so obvious: knowing this kind of support, experienced insight, and generosity is offered by members of the community in times of trouble or mishap goes a long way toward giving a extra little boost of confidence to someone who is still a bit on the fence over whether or not to take the plunge and join the hobby. Sorry to hear about the hiccup you've encountered Ben, thanks for posting about it though.
