  6. Since this system doesn't have the traditional bulkhead/nut fitting, it may require both gaskets to get a good seal.  This is because you will be tightening at least one of the fittings onto the male/male coupling only tight enough to compress the gaskets rather than to seal the threads to the coupling within that fitting.

  7. Agree with the above on the fan issue- very much the "weak link" and the hotter the lights are the faster parts start to burn out.

However in your case, take a look at the power supply box.  It should have a small green light on it.  The light should be on continuously.  If the light is out or (more likely) flickering, you will need to replace the power supply.  Over the last few months we have had to replace many of the power supplies on the older AIs.  Not sure why they go bad, but they do.  The lights typically do exactly what you describe- on for 30 sec, off for 30 sec, on, off, on, off.......  If you need a new power supply right away, we have some in stock.  Good luck!

  8. In that picture I see three bunches of eggs.  One on the far right in a spiral shape halfway up the polyp, one two polyps to the left at about the same level, and another one polyp to the left of that at the same height/slightly higher.  I also see two nudi's, though you probably have many more of each.

You're picture is excellent by the way- could be put in a textbook.

  13. We have a blind porcupine puffer up for adoption!

This puffer was in our 265 gallon predator tank for about a year. He had an infection in both eyes a few months ago, and after two rounds in our quarantine system, he is now completely blind. Because we cannot safely place him in a customer or display tank, we're trying to find someone to adopt him and put him in a safe tank without sharp edges or anything else he could bump into and injure himself on. He is currently in a 15 gallon tank and eating well, but has a white spot (that will heal) on his right eye from bumping into a piece of PVC pipe that was placed in his tank. If disturbed he tends to spin in circles and will occasionally inflate slightly. Feeding him requires a bit of patience because of this, food needs to be put right in front of him in order for him to detect it. However he is an active, lovely fish and deserves a home where he can thrive despite his blindness.

Here's a video of him taken earlier today: http://s284.photobucket.com/user/L82RISE/media/GOPR0081_zps22sl319c.mp4.html

If you would like to adopt this puffer, free of charge, Reef eScape is open Fridays from 2pm to 6pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Please stop by if you'd like to give this guy a good home!

  14. Reminder that we are open for retail today, Friday the 24th, from 2pm to 6pm, and tomorrow, Saturday the 25th, from 10am to 4pm.

We are also having a sale on liverock: any rocks in the sale tub are $1/lb!

  15. Is that a commercial grade MRC skimmer I see to the right? Any details?

That is an AE Tech ETSS downdraft skimmer (possibly a 2000 XR), 64" tall, 15x11" at base; 1.5" inlet, 2" outlet. We had it hooked up to a 660gal reef system before splitting the tanks into three smaller systems. Suggested price is around $500, but we'll take any reasonable offer.
