  1. I am having some issues with alkalinity dropping rather quickly in my tank i got from 6 dkh and get it up to 9 dkh (Via bulk soda ash from BRS). within 5 days im back down to 6 dkh. also have some random spots of green hair algae on some of the sand bed and on 1 rock not sure what from. Calcium sitting at around 440. PH is around 7.99-8.05 when ALK is 6 DKH when 9 DKH PH sits at 8.25-8.3 raising when I dose. But what the heck is eating up all that ALK? 7 fish 10 sps frags and 4 LPs/softies no clams 250-270 gallon total. RC salt 45 gallon water change every other week. I also feed pretty light and mainly frozen food like rods. did a test last night to see what everything currently is sitting at PH 8.07 probe Alk 140 ppm hannah Cal 420 ppm salifert Mag 1420 ppm salifert Phosphate 0.03 hannah ammonia 0 (only had an API kit will get a better kit today) nitrate 0 ( salifert and i tested it twice ive never had a tank show me 0?
  2. sounds good swap to parallel and see if that helps
  3. if one trips they all trip my dad wired it when we did the fish room. have to look into that it only tripped one time its been fine all day today and before maybe a fluke thing but still don't need it happening over a long time with no power to multiple things.
  4. so last night I got home from work and i heard the alarm for my ATO going of ran down stairs lucky it wasn't the worst and water on the floor! But my tank lost power due to a GFCI tripping on one of my outlets. No water near it nothing I seen that would make it trip? The way i have them wired its there are 4 GFCI receptacles all on one breaker.(1 line) I read somewhere that maybe I should swap 3 to normal outlets and only 1 GFCI? I am not to sure on this though. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. worked fine with turning on recirculating pumps then feed after a few minutes
  6. Intake are not covered ill take pictures tonight of it all
  7. since i have a 36inch wide overflow box all my food will go right down to the sump so turn off pump means turn off skimmer with to much water coming down from main tank till siphon break
  8. good point well when i feed today i guess i will find out. with how my stand is i hope it works out fine i can only raise the skimmer maybe 2 inchs if need be very tight under there lol
  9. From.the manual so as high as the neck " Part 5. Operation and maintenance 1. When configured in the (default) recirculating mode as described above, the skimmer can be run in any depth of water up to just below the neck union."
  10. by time the skimmer is turned on its an hour or so after so the water levels are stable i am going to try the turning on 2 recirculating pumps today followed by the feed pump a little later and see how it does.
  11. Thought depth was good with recirculate mode and feed pump said any depth.
  12. Hard to get a good picture of everything didn't have your number sublime
  13. ill try this running off a mj1200 pump all turns off and on together via apex but can change that so pumps comes on first followed by feed. yea i think I do will shoot pics in the morning.
  14. i think it was the small but the small or large would work with the 5inch neck
  15. Yea I will Its been running for a few months
  16. I have a avast cs3 skimmer running recirculate. Every time I feed my fish I turn skimmer and main pump off and mp40s on feed mode. Main pump and powerhead turn on after about 15 minutes. Skimmer comes on about 2 hours later when it turns on it starts overflowing. I can even adjust the gate valve to wide open and still overflows for a bit then few hours later it stables out and I have to retune the gate valve. Anyway I can fix this it is becoming a pita.

  21. Looking to calibrate my temp probe after seeing how off they can be out the box. Wondering if anyone has some digital temp probes the nicer ones not the $10 ones from pet store. I found some in the hundreds but wondering if anyone has a few I could borrow and take a average of them. Thanks
  22. Tanks running good got another eb8 bar wiring that all in. Then program the apex completely. Having a algea breakout during the cycle process still. But here's some pics of algea. No phosphate though and hardly and no3 maybe 1-2ppm using salifert and Hannah. Skimmer starting to pull decent skimmate.
