  1. Thanks. It almost makes me want to find another to put in the back side since its fairly open
  2. The pagoda cup is covering the bottom part coming forward but I think it fits well there. Plans now to cover it in some sweet zoas
  3. Here are a couple cell phone shots. We added a huge piece of tonga branch. It's at least 40 lbs.
  4. I dealt with this as well in my 300. I started with 4 tunze 6125's and sand was all over. I pulled one out and the sand still shifted. So I unhooked one more and ran it like that a few weeks while cycling. It was an issue for a few weeks after moving all my stock over. But a friend told me that as the fish began to add waste it would help the sand stay put. Tank has been running about 2 months now with fish and its finally not moving all over
  5. I was going to take some last night after I finished water change but the lights went out. And yes I gave in jake.
  6. Hey everyone. I figured I'd make a tank thread to update changes along the way. I upgraded to this from a 150DD and moved everything over Christmas Eve once it was finished cycling. -marineland 300 dd starphire with Monterey stand/canopy -3-- nova a6 led fixtures - flow is 3 tunze 6125 and 1 6145 -skimmer is a SRO 6000sss - return pump is a 4100gph reef octo pum - misc tunze ozmolator, BRS dual reactor, 20 long plumbed in with the sump as a fuge Stock Blue hippo, show size blonde naso, unicorn, purple tang, chocolate tang, tiny tomini, pair of Picasso clowns, some chromis, cardinals, two pistol shrimps, Corals Since I recently lost almost all of my sps for reasons I still can't figure out its missing a lot of what I've been growing for almost 2 years I do however have a lot of different zoas. Some regulars some a little more "fancy". A couple branching digi's(shocker they lived). A couple big neon green toad stools. Pretty large pagoda cup. 4 clams. And some others. 2 years into this hobby is say I'm hooked. (Pics to follow)
  7. I had a small(size of a quarter) Pygmy angel in a 34 gallon solana and he did fine. He is now in the big tank and will pick at the rocks. I've had no issues with coral nipping
  8. April 14th huh! Ill have to mark that one down. When I was about 4 weeks into the hobby I went to tfp for the fall frag swap. Being that new in the hobby I had no idea what I was looking at amongst all the tables. All I knew was I was looking for this tree of Kenya that a newbie could grow.
  9. After I got the 300 home my wife was like " it doesn't look that big" I was like you shoulda said so before I ordered it. I do love this hobby and have a 7 month old who has as much fun looking at everything as I do.
  10. First off let me start out by saying yes I'm new to WAMAS. And yes I need to pay for the membership( I'm slacking). I have been a member of a Richmond group since getting into the hobby. Until recent I did not know of this group. With that being said I plan to be as active as possible north and south. Recently I asked the group south what they thought about a "big event" locally. Obviously not as big as MACNA but I feel like in order to get that big you've gotta start somewhere. Now let me reiterate I am not sure of the happenings here as I am only a 4-5 day member. The reason this thought crossed my mind is because I see this larger frag swaps take place all over the country. For example this weekend is REEFSTOCK in Colorado. I think it would be awesome to have something of that nature in VA. if you guys have that already gosh have I been missing out. If not does anyone think it could happen or have any idea what it would take? Again just thinking out loud. I appreciate everyone's opinion.
  11. Thanks. It's just over a hour but a nice drive
  12. I think I'll be surprising the wife with a trip up Sunday.
  13. Also deep blue makes a 57 gallon rimless that's around that length.
  14. Have incredible corals/artfully acrylic build you one. Saw a little of their work this weekend. Very nice stuff
  15. I would love a black tang but not sure how it would do with my purple. Nice score
  16. I think I'm going to head there shortly. Thanks
  17. This was my 150 cube before upgrading. It's got a great foot print to have lots of rockscaping options.
