  1. Hi there I need an electrician to come on over and install some beefed up outlets in my basement for my tanks. I thought I would reach out to wamas first before the yellow pages. We live off evergreen in leesburg if anyone is an electrician and available in the next week to come over..... Please pm me ASAP if you are out there!
  2. I would say that range is about right for me as well..."..
  3. I am in the process of buying a 180 g and have a 75 g that I am combining together I have a 92 that I am not sure if it will be part of it like a refugim/frag tank or if it will remain stand alone plus I want to add in a sump. As far as budget I just want something that actually works and isn't going to break the bank...I was watching the video avast has on site for how to put their skimmer together and it's not rocket science so with patience I suppose I could accomplish it for that price! I'm just not usually a DIY person.
  4. Lol ok I know this thread is ancient history by now but I came across it trying to find a skimmer recommendation for about 300 gallons and I want to know where to find or buy these skimmers? GS2 UPDATE ok I figured out there was a name change to avast, so thats cool..however are they all DIY? Cuz I don't wanna do do it myself lol....I want a skimmer that I just plug in and not assemble......everyone still happy with these? What is the best one for 300 + gallons?
  5. I am no way near even medium stock let alone too heavily.
  6. thanks so much for all this info. I feel so much more hopeful and that the light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train....this hobby is so wonderful until it isn't
  7. THANK YOU!!! Your post calmed my blood pressure right down......onward and upward, will keep fighting the fight!!
  8. hmmm trick question...the set up is over 6 years old, however we moved 11 months ago from FL to NOVA...so not sure how to answer as was all original materials and livestock from FL>VA I feed myisis and blood worms, no flakes and I rinse the food before putting it in. I only use a cube of each a day...sometimes every other day. havent added anything new since we moved other then the engineering gobies.....and we added them about 6 months ago but the problem started really cropping up about 3 months ago.
  9. Ok I am at wits end on my phosphate issue. I bought a new RO/DI (typhoon extreme) and its incredible and has my water down to 0 tds and when I do a water change my phosphate reads 0.02 and then I have brs deluxe gfo canister with the high capcity gfo in it....within 24 hours the readings are back to 0.18 I have it narrowed down to only two things I can think of: I use quite a bit of BRS two part-and I believe it was Origami who suggested this could cause it (thanks Tom!) or the only other thing I can think of is I have 2 VERY industrious engineering gobies that have taken every single grain of sand and moved it all over the tank....over and over.... so what to do? If its the two part I can stop using it but then what? if its the gobies I love them to pieces and cant part with them sigh..... any thoughts would be appreciated. I am so depressed knowing just a few months ago I had gorgeous colorful corals and now I have brown sticks....
  10. yeah...yesterday I ordered all the supplies from BRS to get a top done....will be weekend project...wont be pretty but will hopefully be efficient enough to keep it in.... I suppose I could always put the glass top back on until I get it made, then I could get the fish sooner....but I hate that top with a passion...but if I put it on I won't be as motivated to make the net top... so today I forced myself not to go to the LFS to get it.... So on your 92 its just an open top, correct? gorgeous tanks but PITA in some instances...
  11. the other fish in the tank currently are 1 gold stripe maroon clown who barely ever leaves his RBTA unless someone gets too close to it or its food time 2 engineer gobies 1 royal gamma 1 small yellow watchman 1 bengal cardinal The cardinal and the clown and the engineer gobies will all be going into the 75G when I move...the rest will remain in the 92G I do have a glass top I can put back on....but as the very scary avatar person above stated...if they are going to jump it will be through the tiniest of holes...and the glass top is open by the overflow in the back -small but there none the less....
  12. i thought of that but I really don't want to impede the light penetration as its hard enough to light a corner tank....I think the clear netting is going to be the best option if I can figure out how to do it....
  13. hmmmm off to RC to see what the guys in the "corner club" have done....sigh...its REALLY quite a curve and then a taper to the corner...lol is it bad to just take the netting BRS sells and it tape it to the top?
  14. looking to pick one up this week but I don't use a cover on the tank.....always thought about putting a clear mesh one on, but its a 92G corner tank and the thought of trying to create that type of lid seems utterly impossible and not something I can figure out how to tackle... so question is, am I begging for trouble getting the fish with an open top??
  15. So I was wondering what schedule most use....I use 2 DE 250W 14k Phoenix bulbs and 2 T5 UVL super actinics over my DT...I always used to change the MH out every 6 months but was recently seeing that a lot of people go 9-12 months before changing....and T5 a full 12 months....I decided to try it and its been 8 months and I just ordered bulbs because I just cant go any longer LOL...too many years at the 6 month interval I suppose.... what schedule does everyone else do? I am curious...
  16. ok cool...everything I have read about it seemed positive, but always good to hear from club members that are satisfied with it as well. We are moving and I will be able to hook my two tanks together are the water volume will be 92G corner 75 G bowfront 100 G sump 40 G frag 30G fuge so total water volume will be somewhere around 250-270 when you minus out the sand, rock etc.... I figured the 250 would be more then able to handle it...everyone agree?
  17. love it? hate? what size tank are you running it on?
  18. Glenn you are not alone...I just got our typhoon extreme yesterday (HUGE THANKS!!) and just installed it this morning and we have the same PSI issue (actually the same range ironically) We were just discussing the booster pump as well....just wanted to let you know you have company with your misery This unit is awesome and I am so psyched to see it in action and will go and grab a booster for it so it can be at its full potential.
  19. wow fantastic!! thank you so much for the response...
  20. i was researching skimmers and think I narrowed it down to this one....I put it in the shopping cart and then put the safety back on my trigger finger to be sure it was a good purchase....it sure is a pretty one any feedback good or bad?
  21. would love to but it doesn't have the edit button anymore??
  22. HOLY COW YOU GUYS ARE FAST!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR AWESOME SERVICE! EMAIL ON ITS WAY.........
  23. good idea.... thanks! had to leave voicemail...
  24. Hi there I just placed an order for the extreme typhoon III but if there was a spot to enter the wamas discount code I missed it. I hit the next key and it placed my order before I could go back and fix or find the space for the code. Can you please still apply that for me? thanks!
