  1. I'm not sure Sean - mine was a gift so I never had dealing with the company directly.
  2. Sugar Magnolia - I love your name! I use that one some boards too They are very cool. I had mine on my desk at work for a while but people kept shaking it like a snow globe so I took it home.
  3. OK - you must be bored..... Me too so here's my random image for the day my youngest in his welding gear
  4. Are there any pictures of Bob's stands? I need one for my 12 gallon. I haven't found anything I really like yet.
  5. Thanks for the education everyone - looks like I'll need to get me some of that green stuff
  6. So I saw this in bamainva's nano and it was very cool. I have been thinking more about it. What are the benefits? Food, oxygenation, filtration? Do tell!
  7. I never heard of the recharge. That interesting.
  8. I wish I could clean mine. It has ditris at the bottom but that's part of the eco system - I wish wish it was out of there. I wonder what the record is on lifespan???
  9. Sorta off topic but I wanted to share. 9 years ago this Christmas, a co-worker and fellow salt water hobbyist (the guy who got me into to the hobby) bought me a EcoShephere. After 9 years enclosed I still have 2 live shrimp. I started with 3 but one died off in the first year. nside each EcoSphere are active micro-organisms, bright red shrimp and algae, each existing in filtered sea water. Because the EcoSphere is a self-sustaining ecosystem, you never have to feed the life within. Simply provide your EcoSphere with a source of indirect natural or artificial light and enjoy this aesthetic blend of art and science, beauty and balance. I keep is out of direct sunlight - on my bookshelf in my home office. http://www.eco-sphere.com/home.htm
  10. There is a new Petco in Ashburn. The conditions are the same - freshie tanks are all pristine, but the salt water tanks are nasty. Very cool gobie BTW
  11. This is a great post! Thanks for sharing all the pictures. Please add more as the tank matures. It's very very cool!
  12. Great topic. I hope we get some responses.
  13. Zygote - I did lose all of my snails as well as one of my clowns when MIA. If anyone wants him Im happy to give him up. davelin315 - I'd love some - that would be fantstic. I love this hobby - everyone is so great. Special thanks to bamainva for the devils had frags and mushroom today.
  14. OK so I am not having a lot of lick so far. Here is is today. I hope to have improvements tomorrow: Cn someone tell me if this guy is bad for my tank - He came with it and he is pretty big IMHO.
  15. OK where do I put in my order? I have a 12 gallon Aquapod. It's very nice! Turned out very well.
  16. Hi David - yes it's me! glad to see a familiar face We did build my hood - that tank is now in South Carolina with a very good friend. I broke my foot really bad and could not get up and down stairs to take care of the tank and had a massive crash. My son tried to maintain things - but he was 14 or so. Broke my heart and quit for a while. But I'm back! I'd love some frags - but want to hold off for now. I got a couple things yesterday and have a frag coming tomorrow and want to let things settle before adding more. Thanks for the kind offers.
  17. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I was part of WAMAS before there was a WAMAS - I think there were 6 of us at the beginning. LOL I have a 5 gallon container and I will get some water from LFS and change a bit each week. 12 gallons - how much should i change each time?
  18. Thanks Lanman. Im not saying I have no evap - but I have not been topping off at all. I will get a Deep six and check my salinity - I should ahve gotten one today.
  19. Kevin: So the hermits ate the snails - hmmmm I went to local reef store and got advice from them instead of doing my own research - I forgot more than I ever knew I think. Flowerseller: Thanks for the offer - Id love some. Can't make the zoo though - got plans that night. Thanks for the offer.
  20. So I have not had to top off between changes - the water level really dos not drop. I am thinking the top is enclosed and it not evaporating and any perceivable rate.
  21. Hi all - Im back! I thought I'd introduce myself since its been a really really long time since I have been here I had a 45 gallon and dropped out of the hobby about 6 years ago after a total crash. Sold gave away or trashed everything. Well as all of us who leave do - I got the itch back. Saw a Aquapod 12 gallon for sale on Craiglist. Had live sand, live rock and water - was ready to go and 2 streets down from my house. Soooo I'm Back! So I added blue legged hermits, snails, 2 clowns, mushroom and a condi - not all at once and after checking params. One clown disappeared, condi and snails died - mushrooms shrived and probably won't make it - so Im back but not off to a good start. I'll be hanging around to stay encouraged.
  22. I havent checked the salinity - get my water from Marine Scene. I did place my mushrooms at several locations to see where they might like it best. No where apparently. I just got back into this in June so have been taking it slow. The Aquapod was bought from craigslist and I had no idea how old the PCs were so I replaced them yesterday and could tell a difference right away. I have also checked my nitrates, nitrites, amonia etc and am looking good - so a bit confused. On a side note - I did have 2 false percs and oe day one was gone. We never found it and I tore the tank, skimmer, overflow etc apart. So I hate to add mroe money and harm more creatures. I think I am going to try to buy one piece of live rock and get some live sand to boost the critters in my tank. The tank came with live rock and sand, but not sure how "live" things are. Thanks everyone -
  23. So they detached and shriveled up and I can only find one now. Tiny and not opening. I have done water changes and changed my lights yesterday. When I first started the hobby things went great. When I started upgrading and moved my tank - nothing went right and I finally had a tank crash and left the hobby. Now I decide to get back into it - and have problems of the bat :(
