  1. Glad to see STEELER nation lives on wamas too...!!!!!! Here we go Steelers..!!!!!! Btw Brittanys (its a sportsbar) is a steeler bar with lots of big screens and lots of black and gold... Oh yeah, its in lake ridge..
  2. Yeah, algae was my main concern as well.. He wont be using any high powered lighting, or anything like that.. Im just not to familiar with fish only, i started off on a reef tank and never looked back, so i wasnt sure of the requirements... Thanks and happy to here other opinions..
  3. So my buddy was given a tank and thought it would be cool to have saltwater fish, which is fine, but he has decided to start it already and isnt using RO water, is this ok in a fish only system, he has no plans to add coral at all, just fish... what do you think..?
  4. Thanks for the heads up, ordered one last night... It was $10 shipping on one bulb... Cant wait to see how it looks, i was currently using an XM 20k 400watt... Thanks aga in chubakah..!!
  5. I think you made a good choice... Going with what works is always a safe bet...!! Good luck with the set up.
  6. How about frag rocks.. I know someone on here glued rocks to theback of a nano, dont remember who exactly it was, but they did it.. My worry would be how it would hold up when you add corals to it.. I imagine you would have to be careful when putting any pressure on it.. Just my opinion though...
  7. How do you remove them..? There small so you cant exactly pull them off.. Do you use forceps..? Your welcome to come by sometime and take a stab at it..
  8. Hey dshnarw, i think i do have Pseudocorynactis sp, and i did have one of them with the white balls on the tips too... Didnt see any of the pink and green ones.. How can you remove them..??
  9. I agree. i have always liked marine scene... I have always had good luck with the things i have bought there, customer service wasnt bad.. I like aqua co as well, great store and great help, just not open as much... To each there own...
  10. Thanks everyone... I dont think it has been nipping, i did some tests and i think i had something else going on... Looks like he is stayin.. SOrry Rob... I still plan on monitoring him just to make sure, but i think hes been pickin pods from places...
  11. I just recently got a flame angel to replace my carpenter wrasse (found him on the floor, he made it out of a small space) needed some more preety colors in the tank... I was wondering if they are known for picking at corals... I see it picking at rocks and around corals, and noticed that some of my sps are not open, but only the digi's.. If its biting at them will it leave marks or is this just a coincidence..?
  12. HMMM... Well, 6 months might be all i need for this, but that would make it kind of a waste... I could build a wood stand, but i work 55-60 hours a week, and i dont feel like building things when i get home.. Which is a personal problem, i know.. That stand i found was perfect to... Exactly what i needed in a box.. I suppose i could rust proof it (i used to rust proof vehicles).. Hmm.. guess i will have to make a decision...
  13. So i was wondering around lowes on lunch, and found a shelving unit that is the perfect size, but it is made of steel... Is this a real problem..? I know they sell metal tank stands, and i understand metal/water/electricity combo.. But this unit would work perfect, and each shelf has a 1000# capacity... Chubakah you mentioned the metal stand, so i take it you are ok with them, any other feelings on it... Thanks..
  14. Thanks.. Good to know.. What about the middle support..? If i build a stand that is 36" x 18", but the tank is 36" x 12", will that be a problem..?
  15. Thanks.. Yeah I am the type who will try to overbuild something for the sake of a secure feeling.. I was hoping to put the 30gal on a stand and my sump (which is the same size) underneath..The 30gal is going to be my frag tank.. I dont have to put them on top of one another, just though it would be space saving... So its safe to say that 2x4's would be fine... How much support is needed as far across the top of the stand..? I know wood is much stronger than i want to believe.. Also, is pressure treated wood better..?
  16. How much support is required when building a stand..? Its for a 30 gal tank..?
  17. They do look awesome.. I want one now..!!!!!!
  18. Hey, does anyone on this forum have any of those for sale..? If i get one i would like to get one of those nice colored ones...
  19. What kind of cleaner crew do you have..? Hair algae would cover everything in the ocean if it werent for those that feed on it... I battled it for a long time in an old tank i had, but now i never see it... Lots of snails. crabs etc... Oh and good water quality too.. But i still have both nitrates and phosphates, just no hair algae... How old is thelightingand do you have a fuge..?
  20. Thanks, looks like i will need to make a trip to the LFS...
  21. Where is the best place locally to buy bulk heads..? Do they have them at lowes/HD..?
  22. I just started using a 15w CF bulb sitting right over top and its growing like a wildfire...
  23. Super cool post..!!!! And yes, nice monti caps.. They are workin with a pretty big tank..!!!!
  24. I had a school of 9 chromis and they schooled well together.. You should get the blue reef chromis, smae schooling but they are nearly as common... Very nice looking fish...
