  7. Older post, but this might give you all a little more background on what is MACNA on Melev's reef website.
  8. I MO I'm disappointed that politics influences the real story of the health of the reefs. Yes certain reefs are suffering but officials also make political choices that are far from the truth. But also money to be made by certain groups by raising an alarm as easier to get donation when saying things are in poor health. Look at what Colin Foord presented to us at summer meeting - there is a large stretch of Elkhorn and /or stag horn coral almost 100 yards long north of Ft. Lauderdale, but few know that this patch is there. Also success in the original Miami channel but economic decisions made that harm the existing reefs. And they didn't want to recognize the hybridization of these 2 corals despite the fact that they probably did hybridize.
  9. This is WAMAS's second time hosting. BUT we are in a new venue this time. In 2005 we held it at Crystal City Hyatt.
  10. Getting one of the banners unpacked.
  11. There will be a special link for you to book - once website goes live. PLEASE use the link so we get credit for reservation - this helps us to have the event there.
  12. Shouldn't be hard to find Tom. I hear he will be working the kids booth demonstrating the Origami arts.
  13. I hear ERC booth could use some extra workers for their booth. I've been to all these MACNAs in the past. Maybe not as many as Wade and his reefs.org days. * Baltimore, MD (2001); Boston, MA (2004); Washington DC (2005); Houston, TX (2006); Pittsburgh, PA (2007); Atlanta, GA (2008); Atlantic City, NJ (2009); Dallas, TX (2012); Ft. Lauderdale, FL, (2013); Denver, CO (2014) Read more about what a MACNA is and its history: http://reefbuilders.com/2009/09/18/11-reasons-macna/#ixzz399Vi3mYk
  14. First, Thanks to all the Officers, Vendors, & volunteers who worked hard to put on a great event. Also thanks to Colin for the awesome talk. Amazing how corals adapt to locations some don't expect them to be. As for the low part of the meeting- someone walked off with Hilary's cooler that was full of livestock she had purchased from vendors at the meeting. Sad day when you feel the need to take from your fellow members, especially when free frags were being handed out. If anyone knows anything the cooler, or now has second thoughts about their actions, you can contact one of the officers so we can get the items back to the owner.
